Pete Blome is a retired USAF officer, a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, and the University of Oklahoma where he received a masters degree in public administration. While in the USAF, he was a pilot, and became a combat veteran in Operation Urgent Fury and the First Gulf War. He is married to his wife Barbara and they have three children. Pete says he was a libertarian even before he knew there was such a thing. The role of government is not to grant favors but to protect individual rights. What a person does or believes is his business as long as force or fraud isn’t used on others. He became active as a libertarian because he reached a point when he realized most of what was happening in our country was making everyone poorer, with fewer rights they could exercise, with a government observing fewer limits for itself.
He also does not think the libertarian way is easy, but it is necessary. There is no substitute for hard work. Libertarians will have to compromise on the path back to limited government, and, no matter what, some Americans will see government non-intervention as worse than intervention. It was the libertarians who could predict the America of today with a rigged two-party system, massive overspending, massive overregulation, controlled markets for the benefit of a few, real competition practically eliminated, domination by government both publicly and privately, individual rights used as legislative negotiation tools, disregard for the Constitution, and a currency that is being debased at the expense of everyone’s prosperity. Libertarian leadership has never been so desperately needed to set things right again.
Pete is currently the Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Okaloosa County. Their website www.libertarianpoc.org

Hello, my name is Phillip Laibe The reason that I ran for Soil and Water Board is because I believe that cooperation with the private sector and I come from a farming family I supported programs
* 60 years of age * Philosophy: "any law that uses government power to favor one person / group over or at expense of another is an immoral law". * Want to put all county jobs to "yellow page test" - if a product/service is available for purchase in the "yellow pages", then it should not be funded with tax dollars (like forcing Coke to carry a can of Pepsi in each 6-pack or vice versa) * I read Atlas Shrugged about every 2 years as a reminder of where we can go when government is in control * My vision for brevard: Entrepreneur/Innovation Central - where businesses and individuals come to grow and prosper * I believe when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade: I want to make Brevard a SWEET spot for job creators. * Political experience: Titusville FL city councilman 1994-1996 * Vision basis: Grew up in what is now Silicon Valley so understand benefits of free enterprise versus government control * BA in Math, BS in Accounting, MBA, CFP (Certified Financial Planner) * Over 25 years as financial consultant helping clients live within means and prepare for future, and reading and analyzing financial statements * Put myself through college and have been self supporting since I was 21. * I believe in a hand up, not a hand out, and believe that all government assistance should be in form of a loan to be repaid by recipient. * I believe Brevard County has the potential to be America's "silicon coast" if we capitalize on local talent and graduates of Florida Tech to build an economy that is not dependent on government programs, grants or contracts.
