Boca Raton, FL, June 23,
2007 - This week the Libertarian Party of Palm Beach County (LPPBC)
voted to have the Palm Beach County Commissioners and the Florida Fish
and Wildlife Conservation Commission to move forward with plans to
develop a gun range in Palm Beach County as long as it is operated by a
private entity.
Karl Dickey, chairman of the LPPBC, said today, "We
have so many gun owners and shooters in this county, but no public
facility to practice rifle or skeet shooting. We have tens of thousands
in the county interested in keeping their skills sharp, but few ways to
make that happen. We encourage the public-private partnership plans
being considered."
There were many Libertarians and other political
party members at last week's public hearing on a proposed 83-acre
outdoor range. Most of the money for the facility would come from a
federal tax that has already been collected on gun sales.
Public comments on the facility can be submitted by
June 26th here.
