Boca Raton, Florida, July 24, 2007 - The Libertarian Party of Palm Beach County (LPPBC) announced today that there are three candidates who filed paperwork to run in the 2008 general election.
LPPBC chairman, Karl Dickey, said today, "We expect ten candidates running for both partisan and non-partisan public office positions for the 2008 general election within Palm Beach County. It is important the public have a genuine choice and get beyond this stranglehold of the two party system. The public needs to realize they can vote for the best candidate rather than the lesser of two evils most people find themselves voting for."
Three candidates running for office are Mike McIntosh for Palm Beach County Sheriff, Gabriel Johnson for Palm Beach County Tax Collector, and Karl Dickey for the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, Seat #5. More are expected to file in coming months.
The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States and in Palm Beach County has seen a significant percentage rise in both membership and voter registration the last three years. Libertarians tend to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal which has great appeal for Palm Beach County residents.
