Boca Raton, Florida, July 31, 2007 - Palm
Beach County could find itself with a libertarian-minded county
commissioner if Governor Charlie Crist appoints one of the two
libertarians who have put in their application for the district 3 seat.
Last week Libertarian Party
member and registered Republican, Philip Blumel turned in his
application for the job. Today, Governor Crist received an application
from registered Libertarian Roy Brubaker.
Since the stepping down of
Warren Newell from the district 3 seat, Governor Charlie Crist will
appoint a new member to the commission to serve out the remainder of his
term. Libertarians in the county have
been contacting the Governor encouraging him to appoint one of the two
libertarian applicants.
Roy Brubaker is a computer
programmer and Philip Blumel is a financial planner, both living within
district 3.
The Libertarian Party of
Palm Beach County had
earlier announced efforts to have up to ten elected officials in Palm
Beach County after the 2008 general election.
