2020 LPF Voter Guide

The 2020 Libertarian Party of Florida Voter Guide

Amendment 1: Citizenship Requirement to Vote in Florida Elections - NO

The LPF’s Position

This changes nothing since non-citizens already can not vote in state-wide elections. It does however prevent local governments from ever allowing non-citizens to vote in local elections.

Amendment 2: $15 Minimum Wage Initiative - NO

The LPF’s Position

This measure would actually reduce the number of jobs, impacting the lowest-paid among us. It would raise costs of goods and services for all of us.

Amendment 3: Top-Two Open Primaries for State Offices - NO

The LPF’s Position

This could prevent Libertarian Party and other Third Party candidates from appearing on General Election ballots, leaving elections almost entirely in the hands of the two major parties. Only one major party could be on ballots.

Amendment 4: Require Constitutional Amendments to be Passed Twice - NO POSITION

The LPF’s Position

This proposal would make it harder for new Amendments to be passed or repealed. However, many think this is a good idea, so the LPF takes No Position on this proposal.

Amendment 5: Extend "Save Our Homes" Portability Period - NO

The LPF’s Position

Save Our Homes created an even more inequitable tax system and further complicated Florida’s incomprehensible tax code. This makes it even more incomprehensible.

Amendment 6: Homestead Property Tax Discount for Spouses of Deceased Veterans - NO POSITION

The LPF’s Position

Like Amendment 5, this would shift property taxes to fewer people instead of reducing them. However, many see any potential tax cut as a good one. The LPF takes No Position on this Amendment.
