Elon Musk is talking about forming a new political party. Again. And once again, political opportunists are drooling at the idea of him taking the reins of their movement, some even suggesting he should lead or "save" the Libertarian Party.

But here in Pasco County, we’ve seen how that story ends. Spoiler alert: It doesn't end well.

Let’s be clear: Elon Musk has every right to build whatever party he wants. And if he wants to stand against the bipartisan political rot that infects this country, we welcome that. But the idea that a billionaire parachuting in and giving orders will fix the structural problems of a system built on insider access and media manipulation? That’s not libertarianism. That’s just another top-down fantasy.

The Libertarian Party doesn’t need to be saved by outsiders. It needs to be built by insiders—by people who show up, run for office, knock on doors, and do the work. We’ve seen what happens when outside factions try to "take over" the party: chaos, ego battles, and distractions from what really matters—local, principled organizing.

We don’t need Elon Musk to build the Libertarian Party. We need you.

If we want to build a movement that could attract someone like Musk—not to lead, but rather to support—then it starts with strong local organizations. Real infrastructure. Real candidates. Real community engagement.
