Strategic Plan for Rebuilding and Growth (2025-2026)
Matt Johnson, Chair, Libertarian Party of Florida
-
Membership Growth
Goal: Increase the number of members who contribute monthly by 10% by April 2026.
Strategies:
- Focus on digital-first outreach: targeted email and social media campaigns to former members, registered Libertarians not yet affiliated, and liberty-leaning independents.
- Encourage every county affiliate to personally reach out to former members and lapsed donors quarterly through call lists and email.
- Partner with active counties to host quarterly “Liberty Meetup” events statewide to recruit and convert activists into members.
Measurement:
- Monthly membership report reviewed by leadership.
- Benchmarked growth of 2–3% per quarter.
-
Volunteer Recruitment
Goal: Increase active volunteer participation by 20% by December 2025.
Strategies:
- Build a centralized volunteer database through NationBuilder, segmented by skills and availability.
- Use convention, affiliate meetings, and online events to invite members to volunteer in specific, limited ways (example: phone banking, event setup, tabling).
- Empower county affiliates with a basic Volunteer Toolkit to help onboard and activate new recruits quickly.
- Publish clear “Volunteer Needs” on the LPF website and social channels monthly.
- Recognize volunteers publicly to boost morale and engagement.
Measurement:
- Track new signups monthly and volunteer hours contributed quarterly.
III. Fundraising Expansion
Goal: Grow monthly recurring donations from approximately $1,700 to $3,000 by March 2026.
Annual Goal: Raise at least $40,000 through a mix of recurring donations, event revenue, merchandise, and sponsorships.
Strategies:
- Launch a "10 for Liberty" recurring donor push: encourage members to give $10/month to fuel candidate recruitment and outreach.
- Merchandise: Offer small-batch LPF-branded shirts, hats, and bumper stickers as thank-you gifts for donors.
- Increase paid event ticket sales (convention, special events) to help supplement party income without major upfront risk.
- Actively pursue small business sponsorships for events like LPF Convention and regional meetups.
Measurement:
- Fundraising reports reviewed monthly to measure growth in recurring donations and event-based income.
-
Candidate Development
Goal: Recruit, train, and run at least 15 serious local candidates by the 2026 Election Cycle, focused on local winnable races.
Strategies:
- Launch a Liberty Candidate Academy—basic training sessions (virtual and in-person) on campaigning, messaging, and compliance.
- Work closely with county affiliates to identify races where Libertarians have a high probability of success (city councils, soil and water boards, fire districts, etc.).
- Provide basic candidate support materials: templates for websites, palm cards, press releases.
- Encourage regional strategy calls quarterly to identify and nurture strong local candidates.
- Prioritize quality and viability over volume.
Measurement:
- Track number of candidates recruited, number who qualify for ballot, and engagement during campaigns.
-
Messaging and Visibility
Goal: Reclaim the narrative of the LPF as the home of real liberty, solutions, and principled leadership.
Strategies:
- Release at least one official LPF statement or blog post per month.
- Stay laser-focused on property rights, taxation, local overregulation, and individual liberty—where government abuses Floridians the most.
- Use low-cost social media strategies to maximize reach and engage supporters organically.
- Produce monthly content (press releases, blog posts, videos) highlighting success stories, policy positions, and action calls.
- Rapid response to media inquiries and local issues to showcase LPF as credible, organized, and growing.
Measurement:
- Track website visits, social media impressions, and earned media mentions quarterly.
- Expectations for Executive Committee Members
Serving on the LPF Executive Committee is more than just holding a title—it is an active role in shaping the future of liberty in Florida. Members of the Executive Committee are expected to:
- Regularly check and respond to email. Party business moves quickly. Email is the primary tool for timely votes, updates, and coordination.
- If serving as a Regional Representative, work actively to affiliate unaffiliated counties in your region and support existing affiliates. County-level organization is the foundation of everything we do.
- Support fundraising and candidate recruitment. This includes making phone calls to potential donors in your region and identifying individuals who could run for office in local winnable races.
This is a working board. If we want to see real growth and real victories, it will take consistent and coordinated effort from every member.
Closing Summary:
The internal divisions and national turbulence must not deter us from our mission. Liberty is local, and liberty wins when principled people are organized, disciplined, and persistent.
By focusing relentlessly on achievable goals, empowering our members, and building from the ground up, we can make the LPF not only a force for change but a model for how liberty can be grown even in hostile political climates.
